Holy fucking crap.
Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), explaining his support for the Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act, which would ban abortion based solely on the race or gender of the fetus. Yes, this is a real bill.
@TrzCon38 Okay, yes, the health care system that was passed is deeply flawed. I am opposed coz I think it should be free. Under the law we will have to pay and be penalized (fined) if we don’t have health care. The $ is there to pay for this program.
The Sixth General Assembly Of Occupy Staten Island will be held on December 30th at 6pm in the Whitehall ferry terminal in Manhattan. We will be reaching out to Staten Islanders on their way home from work, in a friendly manner. Find more info at occupystatenisland.org
A man asks an #OWS occupier, “How many jobs did you create this year?” The Occupier responds, “Well I’ve seen about ten Brookfield security people at liberty square on an average evening, so that many I guess.”
In Los Angeles, protestors are being offered “free speech” corporate programming in exchange for their charges being dropped. All they have to do is pay $355. Yup, that is the price of free speech. Why don’t you give a call to the people who run “Justice Associates” and let them know what you think of this idea.

Dear Sisters and Brothers of Occupy Wall Street:
On behalf of Occupy the Dream, we resolutely and respectfully salute all of you in acknowledgment and appreciation of the tremendous progress that you have made on this the important occasion of the Three Month Anniversary of Occupy Wall Street. More than anything else, you have singularly changed the course of human history, not just in America, but also throughout the world for the cause of economic justice and equality.
Yes, in only three months you have raised the consciousness of millions of people on the issues of income inequality, economic injustice, poverty, and human misery at the cold damp hands of the greed and avarice of the 1%. The upper 1% of Americans are now taking in nearly a quarter of the nation’s income every year, as well as controlling more than 40% of the wealth of the nation. At same time government policies continue to give tax cuts to the 1% while 99% of Americans are experiencing greater economic hardship and pain.
In only three months you have given millions of people a rekindled spirit and the visible solidarity in support of daily courageous actions of nonviolent protest and civil disobedience in the living legacy of the dream and activism of The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In only three months you have given millions of people global exposure to the brutal and awful proclivity of those would spray pepper tear gas at point blank range in the face of our students and youth who cry out for freedom, justice and equality.
In only three months you have given millions of people the transformative and therapeutic gift of hope and raised expectations of a better future for the 99% to extent to which we all continue together inclusively across all lines of division to struggle, plan, pray, demonstrate, meditate, work, focus, pool resources, share technology and talent, and build a massive participatory movement to change America and the world for the betterment of all life.
We, therefore, on this day boldly raise our fists together straight up in the air to express our complete solidarity with you. We also pause to pray a prayer of thanksgiving for the blessings that God is preveniently rendering in the rebirth of the movement.
Thank you for the continuing revival, reawakening and revitalization of the movement. Long live the spirit of the Occupy movement! Long live the spirit of the dream and its fulfillment! Occupy Wall Street! Occupy the Dream! Occupy Freedom, Economic Justice, Equality and Empowerment for all!
Which is why I am proud that he is one of my vessels of moral direction:
“Occupy posts are getting an attitude that is very counterproductive. Why criticize EVERYTHING. It is the wrong approach. Be critical of structural and legal impediments to change and inclusiveness for everyone in a fair economic system. Why say things like “leave it up to Time to caricature the protester.” I am losing a sense of solidarity when the Occupy posts are cynical for the sake of cynicism and divisive in ways that “define” who is 99%… even right wing neo cons are part of the 99%… they just don’t acknowledge the disparity. If you have sway with the person posting, tell them that an ardent supporter is tired of the posts that are coming out that represent the lack of maturity and political savvy necessary to carry this movement long term. I want that person to imagine being abel to speak for EVERYONE and find that common ground that has increasingly diminished over last month.
Luv ya as always!”

UNITE YE EVERY CITIZEN
(Sung to the tune of “GOD BLESS YE MERRY GENTLEMEN”)
1. There is a house in Washington they call the Cap-i-tol
It’s ruining the modern world, let protest flags unfurl.
To curb the endless wars they cause, Let citizens unite !
O tidings of civil war tonight
Civil War NOW !
O tidings of civil war tonight.
2. My Father was a Senator, he sent in the Marines
I asked him when the wars would end . “We’ll squeeze ‘em ‘til they scream”
My Uncle was a General, and now he builds their planes.
O tidings of civil war tonight
Civil War NOW !
O tidings of civil war tonight!
3. My Mother worked in Washington, inside the Pentagon
She’d add up all the men who died, then add them up again.
The General said he saw the truth , but would he tell? O NAY!
O tidings of civil war tonight
Civil War NOW !
O tidings of civil war tonight.
4. “There’s too much money in this game. Let companies stake their claim.”
“My neighbor’s in Afghanistan, A thousand bucks a day”
The troops they send to guard his truck die for a lot less pay.
O tidings of civil war tonight
Civil War NOW !
O tidings of civil war tonight.
5. My brother ran for Congressman, they said: “It costs a lot.
You’ll take our money for this race, or else we’ll have you shot.”
My sister is a radical, she thinks things can be changed
O tidings of civil war tonight
Civil War NOW !
O tidings of civil war tonight.
6. They say it’s called Democracy, they let us vote and wail
But rich men write the laws you see, the poor just go to jail
Now DOD can take you in and THROW AWAY THE KEY.
O tidings of civil war tonight.
Civil War NOW !
O tidings of civil war tonight.
7. There is a House in Washington, a Senate down there too
The People can withhold their tax ~ that’s me and you and you!
As long as profits rule all else, this country’s goin’ to hell.
O tidings of civil war tonight
Civil War NOW !
O tidings of civil war tonight.
WALL STREET
(Sung to the tune of Silent Night)
by John Judge, Carl Chatski, Kim Louth
1. Wa-all Street
Where the rich meet
All’s not calm
All’s not right
In the parks, the people abound
Human voices protest all around
Greed’s disturbing the peace
Greed is disturbing the peace
2. Joblessness grows
true rate ? Who knows…
Where did all — our money go?
One percenters say “BAIL OUTS WERE SWELL”
While the people have all gone to hell!
People, come out and prot-est,
Protest the DOLLAR as King.
SATYAGRAHA HIP HOP
Now, I know you think you tough,
But you better keep you distance
If you dealin` with a brother
Knows Non-Violent Resistance
You be braggin` bout you juice,
Dissin` everybody, laughing Ha Ha,
But you won’t be smiling` long
When you run into Satygraha
Dr. King he had more power
In his one little finger
Than whatever you’ll let loose
By pullin` on that trigger
Now, I really don’t think
That you’re getting` the whole pitcha
But you’ll know it soon enough, if
I get non-violent witcha
Violence gets back violence,
Always has, every minute, every hour
But that cycle’s gonna end
When it come up against Truth Power
VIOLENT NIGHTS
(sung to the tune of Silent Night)
1. Violent nights, no respite
All is bombs, all is fright
Sounds of danger to mother and child
Birthplace of Jesus is so defiled
Wish for heavenly peace
Wi-i-ll there ever be peace?
2. Violent nights, no end in sight
C’vilians quake at their plight
Fires fall down from heaven afar
Weapons- makers sing Alleluia !
Peace asunder is torn
Will peace come Christmas morn?
OCCUPY! OCCUPY!
(Sung to “Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells”)
1. Oh! Occupy! Occupy!
That’s the only way
Oh what fun it is to tent
When you cannot pay the re-e-nt!
2. Occupy! Occupy!
from Wall Street to the Fed
Screw us, and we’ll multiply
We’re in the streets tonight! HEY !

OWS Organizers Workshop: Organizing Through A Racial Justice Framework
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2011 —- in place of Spokescouncil*
Winston Unity Hall - 235 west 23rd Street
(between 7th & 8th avenue)
7:00-9:30 PM
On Friday, December 2, Spokescouncil unanimously decided that on Wednesday, December 14, Spokescouncil will be replaced by an OWS Organizers Workshop (put together by POCcupy Your Block and the Applied Research Center), entitled Organizing Through A Racial Justice Framework.
Organizing Through A Racial Justice Framework will be an interactive workshop led by Rinku Sen, Executive Director of the Applied Research Center, which will focus on building multiracial alliances within the Occupy Wall Street movement and developing strategies for organizing with an explicit racial justice framework in a unifying way. It will be an opportunity for organizers, participants, and supporters of OWS to share experiences, practice anti-racist framing techniques, and learn strategies for bringing race consciousness and the struggle for racial equity to every level of the movement.
This workshop is OPEN TO ALL: the more people attend from across the spectrum of OWS working groups, affinity groups, and associated organizations, the greater the potential for meaningful learning and alliance-building.
